Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Virden Conference Center in Lewes. This state-wide conference focuses on local government energy sustainability, environmental stewardship and climate protection policies, programs and financing opportunities. City and county managers, planners and elected officials can learn about best practices and funding resources to meet the needs of their own communities. cities to endorse the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement at their
June 14 city council meeting. Their unanimous vote was
congratulated at the meeting by Sierra Club of Delaware President Nancy
Moore and the Chairman of the Cool Cities Delaware Program Ron Zink. Their annual competition, located at the Dover Sheraton, coincides with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22. Green businesses, organizations, and training programs will gather to further expose students to these important concepts. Cool Cities Recognizes Dover
City Manager Anthony Deprima
February 22, 2010 Cool Cities Delaware Chairman Ron Zink presented Dover
City Manager Anthony Deprima with a certificate of appreciation on
February 22, 2010 for his energy sustainability, environmental
stewardship and climate protection leadership in the City of Dover and
the State of Delaware. Mr. Deprima’s contributions include
improvements in the energy efficiency of city buildings, street
lighting and services, as well as the 10 megawatt solar photovoltaic
“Sun Park” slated for development this year. Mr. Deprima has also
encouraged other local governments to participate in efficiency and
sustainability initiatives. Organizational Meeting
February 20, 2010 Nineteen volunteers from throughout the state met at the Delaware City Library to discuss the Cool Cities Delaware program and to organize activies for the coming year.
Green Matters in the Delaware Region

"Environmental
Policy and You" was the theme of the first of the Green Matters forum
series organized by the United Unitarian Fellowship of Newark.
Cool Cities volunteers attended the event to promote energy
sustainability, environmental stewardship and climate protection at the
local level and Lights Out Delaware - Earth Hour. The speakers of
the evening, Governor Jack Markell and DNREC Secretary Collin O'Mara,
shared with the audience their vision for a sustainable future and the
progress that has been made in Delaware. Read

28th meeting of the Delaware League of Local Governments with our
redesigned booth display to continue promoting energy sustainability,
environmental stewardship and climate protection; to raise awareness
about the importance of the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement;
and to encourage all governments to participate in Lights Out Delaware -
Earth Hour on March

Anthony J. DePrima, City Manager of Dover, presented information on the Cool Cities Program, including the steps that the Dover’s City Council took and how they implemented them. Specific programs include the L.E.D. Street Lights Program, City owned Solar Systems, Green Purchasing, Home Energy Audits, Fleet MPG Reductions, Dover Sun Park and the efforts of Dover to build a Leed Gold Library. Cool

15 and 16, 2009
Cool
Cities Delaware supported this comprehensive renewable energy, energy
efficient and green-guiding technology conference that included a
speach by Governor Jack Markell and 40 presentations on the design,
policy
and science of sustainability. Our booth was among 50 exhibitors
displaying products
and services in support of the new energy paradigm in Delaware.
