Climate Stabilization
DeclarationCool Counties was launched in September 2007 at the National Association of Counties County Climate Protection Forum to provide best practices, tools and resources to assist counties in energy sustainability, environmental stewardship and climate protection policies and programs. Just as the Cool Cities Program encourages local governments to endorse the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, the Cool Counties Program encourages counties to endorse the U.S. Counties Climate Stabilization Declaration. Of the 3,066 counties in the United States, 42 have already adopted the U.S. Counties Climate Stabilization Declaration and have committed to address the challenges climate change poses to our communities.
